Preregistration

Already know that you're wanting to compete in the main event and don't want to have to worry about registering on-site? Wouldn't it be nice to just show up on Saturday morning with your teammates, knowing that you were already in the tournament? Online preregistration is now a great option for your team!

Important Things to Know:
  • Preregistration will be open until 10PM EST on June 6, 2013 and is available here. After that, all pre-registration will need to be done on-site.
  • Preregistration means that you are entered into the tournament and must report for the player meeting and may ONLY skip that player meeting and deck registration/construction if you have byes and paid for the Sleep in Special.
  • There will be a special check-in line on-site for on-line pre-registered folks. You will avoid much of the crowd this way.
  • Only one member of the team need register the team. The 3 names for the team will be provided on site when you check in.
  • Each member of a team that uses on-line pre-registration will be provided a $10 coupon for use in any Sunday Side Event at GP Providence (coupon has no monetary value, can be used only on Sunday at Grand Prix Providence 2013 and only one coupon per customer).
  • All promotional items are given out on a first-come, first served basis to players who turn in registration paperwork on-site while supplies last. If you pre-register on-line you are not guaranteed a promotional item. The receipt of a promotional items is determined solely by registering, or in the case of those teams that pre-registered on-line checking-in, on-site. This means that preregistration does not guarantee a promotional item, such as a foil card or a playmat. Those items are available only to preregistrations who check in early on-site unless you opt to register for the VIP Package!

Sleep in Special

Does your team have some byes and don't want to get up to register your deck at 9 AM? Have I got a deal for you! If you have byes and register any time before Friday at 10 PM you are eligible for the "Sleep-In Special". An additional charge of $45 for your team buys you more sleep and a pre-registered deck, how amazing is that?

As you may know, one of the amazing perks of Platinum Pro Club members is a *free* Sleep-In Special at a Grand Prix. How is that going to work at GP Providence you may ask? Here is the official answer: If a team has at least one Platinum member, the team as a whole get the benefit of a *free* Sleep-In Special! That's right - go grab a Platinum Pro Club member and you get the perks of the Sleep-In Special for the entire team! Spread the word! Let everyone know!

Prior to 10 PM on June 6, 2013, you can preregister for the Sleep in Special online here.

You may ONLY skip the player meeting and deck registration/construction if you paid for the Sleep in Special.

Cost of the Sleep-In Special is $45 USD per team regardless of number of byes.

Additionally, teams that pay for the Sleep-In Special receive the following additional benefits:
  • Each member of a team that uses on-line Sleep-In-Special will be provided a $10 coupon for use in any Friday Side Event at GP Providence (coupon has no monetary value, can be used only on Friday at Grand Prix Providence 2013 and only one coupon per customer).
  • Each member of a team that uses on-line Sleep-In-Special will be provided a $10 coupon for use in any Sunday Side Event at GP Providence (coupon has no monetary value, can be used only on Sunday at Grand Prix Providence 2013 and only one coupon per customer).

How the Sleep in Special works

Once you have paid for the Sleep-In Special, a sealed deck card pool will also be registered and verified on your behalf. Instead of arriving at 9:00am for the player meeting, you will check in prior to your first round of play and receive a preregistered pool. Preregistered decks are chosen at random for each team from the selection of preregistered decks. From the point when you get the pool, you will have 60 minutes to construct your decks and turn in your decklists. You begin play for the proper round after your byes and continue as normal.

You will need to report a minimum of 60 minutes PRIOR to the start of your first round of play. The estimated round start times for Saturday are:
  • Round 1: 11:00 AM
  • Round 2: 12:00 PM
These times will be finalized on Friday before the event. Please check our Facebook page or the Grand Prix Twitter feed for confirmation of times.
Note: Sleep in Special registration does not guarantee a promotional item.

Notes

  • Please watch your possessions.
Do not leave your items unattended. Professional Event Services, LLC, its partners and venues are not responsible for lost or stolen materials. You bring materials at your own risk.
  • Trading is fine.
However, anyone attending the event that buys, sells or solicits other players to do either will be asked to leave the event without refund. Note that offering items such as iPods or PSPs is the same as a cash transaction. This applies to both the buyer and the seller. Professional Event Services, LLC, its partners and venues are not responsible for any "bad" trades nor will we offer any trade advice. Your trades are your own risk.
  • Sportsmanship is very important.
Professional Event Services, LLC greatly values sportsmanship. Poor sportsmanship can lead to warnings, game losses, match losses and disqualification from the tournament. Poor sportsmanship includes trying to trick another player, lying, arguing with an official as well as most other forms of bad behavior. Poor sportsmanship impacts all attendees to the event and reflects poorly on you. At all time, treat other players like you would want to be treated.
  • You do not lose your cards when you play in tournaments.
You always keep your own cards at the conclusion of a tournament. You do not lose them to other players for any reason.
  • We accept cash (only) for payment for events. We only accept cash of the country the event is held in.
  • Be on time for the start of your tournaments and for the start of each round.
In order to get everyone out on time, we need to start as soon as possible. If you are late for a tournament or a round, you may be dropped from the tournament.
  • All Universal Tournament Rules and Magic: The Gathering Floor Rules are in effect for this event unless specifically overruled by information in this Format Document
  • Swiss Format? What's that?
There are two main formats for tournaments - single elimination and Swiss. In single elimination when a player loses a match, they are eliminated from the tournament. Booster Drafts are an example of single elimination tournaments. In a Swiss format event, players are not eliminated from the tournament and will be paired for the next round regardless of whether they won or lost their last match. You can play every round of a Swiss format tournament no matter what your record is.
  • Questions? Ask them!
We love questions! If you have a question, please ask an event official (in either the brightly colored staff shirt or the black judge shirt) and we will do our best to answer your question.
  • Players must bring pen, paper, card sleeves and appropriate counters.
